Movies, Art, and Music under one roof
We heard that Porto Alegre had a well-respected arts scene and that Santander Cultural was the place to be. It certainly was and, because it closes around 6pm, is a great place to start your day or to head to in the afternoon before returning to your hotel and getting ready for the night ahead.

Internacional for life
As European I don't get to see a lot of South American soccer but I am a big fan of the game and heard a lot about the atmosphere in stadiums such as Beira Rio. The ticket cost me almost nothing and even though the other fans could see I was alone, they treat me like brother - like I have been lifelong fan. Now I am. Internacional forever!

A unique two for one
My wife and I went there too. How much did you pay in a taxi if you don't mind my asking? Did you manage to take any photos of the lake itself? We did and are going to enter them into a local newspaper competition, let's see how we do! Recommended to all Porto Alegre tourists.

Best views of Lake Guaiba and more
Although we went to the Fundacao Ibere Camargo museum to learn more about Porto Alegre, we found that it also provided great views of the area's Lake Guaiba. Many people told us that this was a must-see and I would have to agree that the short journey to it is worthwhile even if you aren't that interested in the museum itself.

Shopping at Central Public Market
They said that the best way to see the real Brazil and meet real Brazilians was to spend a few hours at Central Public Market. While not entirely true, I understand what is meant by it and everyone was incredibly friendly with some even taking the time to ask us how we were enjoying their city. The wife managed to pick up great gifts for friends and relatives back home.
